Family Trip: What to Pack

Are you the kind of person who packs a week in advance? Or do you tend to throw everything into your suitcase the night before your annual family trip

Whatever your style, the LOLO team is here to lighten the mental load. Between baby care essentials, clothing and comforting items that make travel easier, a great trip starts with a well-thought-out list.

Here are our must-haves to help you leave with peace of mind.

What Should You Pack for a Family Trip?

Every family has its own routines. But some items are staples, no matter the destination or length of your stay

Here is a basic checklist you can adapt to your needs:

- A complete hygiene kit (we’ll come back to that!)

- Weather-appropriate clothing (diapers, swimsuits, warm and comfortable outfits)

- A beach towel and lightweight blanket

- Games and activities for the road (colouring books, stickers, cards, etc.

- A few favourite books for quiet moments

What Baby and Toddler Care Products Should You Bring?

The baby care kit is the one thing you don’t want to forget. One small oversight can quickly turn into a big headache when you’re away from home.

Sunscreen: It’s best to buy it before you leave. In sunny destinations (hello all-inclusives!), it’s often more expensive, and unknown brands may not be as effective.

Mild Soap and Foaming Shampoo: Choose a natural, fragrance-free product like LOLO to avoid skin irritation.

Diaper Rash Cream: Heat, sand and frequent diaper changes—especially when travelling—can quickly irritate your baby’s skin.

Oleo Calcareous Liniment: If your older child tends to get itchy after swimming, this is your go-to ally! Perfect for cleansing and moisturizing.

- Travel Sizes: Remember to prepare mini versions of your favourite products to save space in your luggage.

And of course: toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss (for older kids), and a few soft washcloths for a little reminder of home.

Clothing for a Successful Family Trip

Wanting to pack everything is completely normal—but travelling light is indeed possible!

- Choose comfortable and versatile clothing.

- Plan for at least one full change of clothes per day for younger children (let’s face it, that ice cream scoop can easily land on your youngest’s shirt!).

- Think in layers to adapt to changing weather.

- And don’t forget about basic accessories: hat, sunglasses, swimsuit, pyjama, extra socks.

A small separate bag for wet or dirty clothes will also make things easier on the way back (and keep clean clothes smelling fresh!).

Keeping a Calm Routine, Even Away From Home

A change of environment can easily disrupt your children’s routine. Sometimes, all it takes to reassure them is a few familiar things:

- Stick to the same bedtime routine they have at home: bath, cream, pyjama, storytime.

- Bring familiar items: favourite blankie, night light, towel.

- A gentle massage after bath with moisturizing lotion or massage oil can also do wonders to soothe an overstimulated child.

Repeating these small rituals every night helps create a sense of security and continuity, especially when you’re away from home.

A family trip is both an adventure and juggling act. Being well prepared with carefully chosen essentials makes everyday care easier, even on the go.

The entire LOLO team wishes you a wonderful vacation (with as few forgotten items as possible)!
