Quebec Gourmet Products: Our Local Flagships!
With rising prices and ongoing import challenges (thanks Donald!), there’s never been a better time to turn to our local treasures.
While it’s relatively easy to trace the origin of fruits and vegetables, it can be tricker to know whether a vinaigrette or mustard was entirely made here in Quebec.
At La Belle Excuse, we are especially proud to offer gourmet creations that are made, bottled and labelled right here in our sunny workshop in Saint-Liguori, Lanaudière.
Let us introduce some of our favourite local flagships!
Artisan Mustards with Local Flavours
Maybe your love of mustard started with a hotdog when you were just a kid—but this is a far cry from classic yellow mustard!
Both of our mustards are lovingly crafted from carefully selected ingredients, designed to elevate the flavours of the foods they are paired with.
Gourmet Mustard
With its creamy texture, our Roasted Garlic and White Balsamic Mustard is perfect for marinades or for turning an ordinary sandwich into a savoury lunch. The blend of roasted garlic and tangy-sweet white balsamic makes it a kitchen staple—ideal for flavouring a roast or delicious chicken thighs.
Locally Made Old-Fashioned Mustard
Our second mustard surprises with its crunchy texture. As a traditional grainy mustard, it offers a texture that differs from the usual creaminess of this popular condiment. It is a natural match for roasted meats and brings just the right kick to homemade vinaigrettes.
Our Roasted Fennel and Pink Peppercorn Mustard delivers bold character to every bite thanks to its mustard seeds and subtle fennel flavour. When we say handcrafted, we mean it—even the fennel is hand-roasted!
Gourmet Confits with Quebec Flavours
Our confits are a true celebration of local flavours. The French Shallot Confit in Raspberry Balsamic combines sweet shallots with rich raspberry vinegar made with fortified wine from our own vineyard. Add it to brie and it practically melts in your mouth!
Remember those childhood Christmas dinners? Maybe there was always a little bowl of pearl onions to serve with pâtés and charcuterie… That nostalgic flavour is exactly what we’ve recreated with our Pearl Onion Confit in Lemon Balsamic, but with a decadent twist!
Ask your grandmother to be the judge!
Dressing, Made and Bottled Locally
While our White Balsamic Dressing is made from olives grown on our ancestral Greek lands, it is carefully prepared in our Saint-Liguori workshop. Delicious on salads, makes a great marinade for fish and seafood, and adds refined flavour to grilled vegetables.
